Visit to Museum

 
Recently visited Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya well known as Prince of Wales Museum in Mumbai. Here are some selected clicks.

Buddhist Goddess Tara

 Tara is the female counterpart and energy of Bodhisattava

The Departure of Prince Siddhartha

The Scene is divided into two halves. On the top Prince Siddhartha is seated besides the bed of his wife, taking a silent permission to leave the palace in search of true knowledge.
In the lower panel, Prince rides away from the city on horse Kanthaka.
Such narrative panels are typical of Gandhara art.

 Khanjar is a dagger originating in the Arabian regions, which found its way to India. The blade is short and double edged. It is carried in a engraved sheath
